JJ Redick’s Uber Ride Last Week Turned Into a Law and Order: SVU Episode. What’s Your Craziest Uber Ride Story?

If you’re a Sixers fan or even a basketball fan, you should listen to JJ Redick’s podcast.  I am Super late and just now got to this latest one but wow what a doozy. In this most recent episode, you should listen just if you’re in the mood for hearing one of the best WTF stories of all time.

According to Redick, as he began his podcast with special guest Mo Bamba, recalled his Uber ride in New York. An Uber ride that led to Redick and his sister getting out because there was a caged human being also inside the car:

“So the car is like facing … sort of perpendicular to us. And I’m like, ‘Sir, I think there’s a person in your backseat.’

“And so he lifts the blanket up, but like towards the window, so that the blanket is facing up, so we couldn’t see cause we were on the sidewalk—perpendicular to the car, not behind the car. And he’s like ‘No, there’s nothing in here. There’s nothing in here.’ And he closes the blanket back, and then he closes the trunk.

“And as he’s like walking around to the front seat, a head pops up. [Bamba starts to laugh.]

“It’s the—no, this is not funny. There’s a back of a female’s head. She’s got blond hair, there’s a ponytail, and based on the size of the box or cage that this person is in, it’s like either, like a very small human, or a child. And I’m like, ‘We all saw it, right?’

“So he drives off, and then Kylee, now at this point, it’s like, ‘Are you sure? Was that a dog? Was that a dog with like a very fury tail?’

“And she’s like, ‘No. The reason I said there was a person is because I saw movement in my peripheral—out of my right eye. So I turned around, and the blanket was moving. So when I looked back, like half of a human face came out of the blanket. I saw a woman’s eyes, woman’s face, woman’s blond hair.'”

I am absolutely STOKED for Season 20 of Law and Order: SVU to do a spin-off episode based on this occurrence.

I know it’s just a podcast so you can’t physically see what’s going on, but I would love to see Mo Banba’s face as this story unfolds. Bamba is just trying to be a nice guy and get his name out there in the league and BOOM… he gets dunked on by Joel Embiid and then gets caught up in a possible child sex trafficking scandal with Redick. Welcome to the league, big guy.

If we are doing a Mt. Rushmore of WTF Uber stories, this has to be on there (feel free to comment your weirdest Uber story). I’ve heard of vomiting in the Uber, a driver who was a doctor and political prisoner in Africa, and then up and coming rappers. This one though, this one takes the cake.
