Kamu Grugier-Hill Made the Comments a Loser Would Make, Then the Eagles Lost

No matter what unfolded during that insane game yesterday, the Eagles were doomed from the start. No, I don’t mean the fumble on the kickoff. Although that somehow ended up not even being the worst call in the game but also one of the worst calls of all time. I’m talking about Kamu Grugier Hill’s “choking” comments.

“Look at Dallas’ history. They always choke. So we’ll go down there and make them choke.”
These are the comments losers make. When was the last time a player on the Patriots made comments of that nature? When was the last time a kid on Bama’s team guaranteed a win? Never? That’s because making comments like that aren’t in winning DNA. They have the quiet confidence to KNOW they can make another team choke or guarantee a win without saying it. What’s understood doesn’t need to be said.
Here are some recent examples of comments similar to Kamu’s, please remind me how everything turned out:

Example A: Lebron laughs at comments, goes full Thanos, Warriors blow infamous 3-1 lead
Example B: Michigan guarantees win, gives up damn near 60 to Ohio State, doesn’t make Big Ten Championship let alone College Football Playoff
Example C: Red Sox start playing the same song…as they celebrate winning the World Series
What bothers me even more is the unneeded motivation his stupid comments gave the Cowboys. This is a franchise with a lot of guys fighting to not only make the playoffs, but keep their jobs. Jason Garrett may have gotten fired if they didn’t win the division. Dak Prescott may not get an extension if he comes up short in crucial games like this. The front office has a lot of questions to answer about the Amari Cooper trade if they don’t make the playoffs. This core of Cowboys chokes after saying they’re used to choking, there’s no turning back for them. You burnt the boats for them.
That doesn’t even consider the fact that the Eagles needed this game way more than the Cowboys and you gave them motivation contrary to that. Dallas treated their game against New Orleans like it was the Super Bowl. They were due for a letdown. Plus, they knew, as well as we did, that their upcoming schedule is a cupcake walk in the park. Ours on the other hand, is loaded with two top teams. They didn’t NEED this game. But when you tell them everyone is expecting them to choke, then they NEED to win for the sake of pride.
You can say it’s just trash talk between rivals in a playoff level matchup. But, that quote was flashing on the screen during a nationally televised game, the opposing players were making choke motions, and the other team is talking about it in the locker room nonstop. It wasn’t trash talk, it was a distraction. It’s what losers do.
I commend the defense for one hell of an effort as depleted as they were. Some of them went 99 snaps and they were gamers throughout. I just could’ve done without that type of pre-game talk.
