Jalen Mills “Expects” to Play Better and I Expect to Go Insane If He Doesn’t

Every week, the opposing quarterback has a field day against the Philadelphia Eagles as the secondary continues to be disastrous.

The captain of the sinking ship that is the Eagles defense is Jalen Mills. On Sunday, Mills bit on yet another double move and gave up a 68 yard bomb to Adam Thielen. After I had a brief brain aneurysm and blacked out, I recovered just in time to see Mills to get chewed up and spit out by his own teammate and captain, Fletcher Cox.

As every week passes and the losses start to pile up, the criticism of “The Green Goblin” gets louder. It’s disappointing because the green hair used to be cool when we were winning. But now with Mills getting cooked every week, it makes him look like a moron.

Jalen says he’s been hearing the criticism but he’s doing the best to ignore it while doing his best to reach level of expectations:

“I’m not worried about it,” Mills said of criticism. “At the end of the day, you’ve got to know who you are. You’ve got to know things are going to happen [to defensive backs].

“At the same time, we set a standard for ourselves from last year. When you do set that standard for yourself, people expect you to play like that. You should expect yourself to play like that” (Pro Football Talk)

I do feel somewhat bad for Jalen Mills as I think the Super Bowl victory created unreasonable expectations for him. He was a 7th round pick because he’s a step too slow and an inch too short. As a white six-foot basketball player, I know the feeling and have some sympathy.

Even though I have a soft spot for him, Mills has got to be better. The whole defense does and the whole team does. It starts Thursday against the only team who’s had a worse week than the Eagles.

And for Mills, at least he still has one supporter!

Aside from that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?
