Breaking : The Philadelphia Eagles Have Signed Jordan Matthews

Help is on its way. After the Eagles lost Mike Wallace to an ankle injury on Sunday, their wide receiver group was growing bone dry. Today, they added a familiar face, Jordan Matthews, back to the group.

After passing his physcial yesterday, Jordan Matthews and the Eagles agreed to a contract. Details on the deal are still unknown.

Matthews, who was traded during preseason last year to Buffalo for Ronald Darby, had a rough year for the Bills. Resulting in a release this offseason.

This year, Matthews signed a contract with New England to help out their receiving group. But, was not fully healthy and was released.

With the Matthews signing, the Eagles are bringing back one of Carson Wentz’s favorite targets from his rookie season. During that season, Matthews and Wentz connected for  73 receptions for 803 yards and 3 touchdowns.

It is still unknown where Matthews will line-up in the Eagles formation. The Eagles already have a slot wide receiver, Nelson Agholor, which is Matthews preferred position.

However, I think Agholor has shown enough to be moved back outside opposite of Alshon Jeffrey when he is healthy. The Eagles wanted weapons for Wentz. Well, they just took a step forward in that direction.

When Jeffrey returns, Wentz will have Agholor and Jeffrey on the outside, Matthews in the slot, Ertz and Goedert up the middle, and Sproles and Clement out of the backfield. Plenty of quality players to go around for Wentz to play with.

But, Matthews may not be the only former Eagle returning to help out Wentz. According to a report by NBC10s John Clark, the Eagles are bringing in Jeremy Maclin for a workout next week. We will keep you updated on that also.

Welcome back Jordan Matthews. He is expected to practice tomorrow and Friday and is on track to play Sunday vs the Colts.
