The Summer Sixers Are Officially Back Thanks To ‘The Furkan Game’

The Summer Sixers are back in the most Process way possible as opening night in the Vegas Summer League epitomized all the reasons we fell in love with the era of Philly basketball. A random European shooter who will never be more than a role player, but a hero in our eyes. Our former first overall pick sitting with the team, which allows us to talk ourselves more into him being back. A player making it literally less than a half as a Sixer before getting hurt. And Isiah Miles.

You know, it’s nice to watch Summer League knowing that the future of our franchise isn’t riding on one of the players on the roster. This allows us to just sit back and enjoy The Furkan Game.

A few days ago, when we added Wilson Chandler after drafting some pieces, I was quite afraid the Furkan era was going to be short lived. Now, I’m all I’m on Korkmaz being this years Bellinelli (guy who comes off the bench, makes you say “no no no” when they shoot it, right before it goes in). It’s amazing how much your game develops from their first year in the Summer League to the second. Am I saying Furkan is this year’s Jaylen Brown? Yes, absolutely. Also, where have I been the past two years? Furkan’s step back jumper is nice but this guy drip’s sauce:

Aside from Furkan freaking Korkmaz scoring 40 points, I’m upset. I hate losing to the Celtics, even in Summer League. For a fan of a team that was purposely losing less than three years ago, I am already addicted to winning. I just want to fast forward to the Eagles season opener. Cry as the banner goes up. Then fast forward again to the 7 game series in the Eastern Conference Finals with Boston. I’ve treated every game like Game 7 of the NBA Finals since this iconic game:

The Summer Sixers are officially BACK.
