The Unpopular Return Date for Carson Wentz

By: Aaron Black

All of us have our opinions on when we think our Ginger Jesus should be back on the field. Carson is the franchise QB we have longed for, and his crack at a Super Bowl MVP is looming. But when should he come back? If you ask Carson he would want the season to start Memorial Day Weekend and he would be on the field ready to roll because that is just how our guy is wired. I’d love to see number 11 on the field week 1 against the Falcons, but then I remember I want to see Carson lead the Eagles out of the tunnel for the opening game for the next 12-15 years. With that said, you can kind of gauge that I am on the conservative side of this debate. These are the reasons why:

  1. Our schedule is kinda sorta maybe not too hard. Home opener at the Linc is a guaranteed win. That place will be an absolute electric factory and the Eagles will not lose. Then we have the Bucs, Colts, Titans, Vikings, Giants, and Panthers. The toughest game in that stretch, in my opinion, is Titans on the road. Prob still gonna get a W cause this team is going to fuck. After this stretch we go to London for the Jags, BYE, and then Sunday Night at home against the Cowboys.

  1. Big Dick Nick. This does not need to be fleshed out. The man has a horse cock, has a Super Bowl MVP, and has played on the biggest stage the NFL has to offer. The confidence Nick Foles has going into this season is insanely high. I have no issue with Foles taking us through a good stretch of this season, while Carson gets to 120% before a return.

  1. Carson should be 120% before a return. As I alluded to earlier, I am definitely in the conservative camp for the Carson return date. I want to see Carson for the next decade plus as our QB, and him rushing back will scare the hell out of me every game I watch. I do not want to be holding my breath every time Carson rolls out of the pocket and takes off (probably still going to happen anyway). Carson is a competitor and he is going to be like Embiid, definitely less vocal about it, but when he is not on the field he is going to be upset, it is just human nature for competitors to want to compete. It will be painful for us as fans if we lose a game that we should have won and say to ourselves “We need Carson back next week,” “If Carson was playing this would have been a win.” I get all that and those things are going to happen, but I will be leading all of us in a big collective deep breath throughout the early part of this season to just remember the big picture. Which would you rather? Eagles lose to the Bucs in week 2 of 2018 and if Carson was there we would have won, or a decade of Super Bowl runs? I don’t know it seems like a tough one.

With that being said, the best time for Carson to come back is……. Week 10 Sunday Night Football at home against the Cowboys. It makes too much sense. Foles can hold down the fort against a favorable schedule and get the Eagles into week 10 with a 6-2 record at the absolute worst! An extra week to prep and be beyond fully healthy is when Wentz should return. The energy in the Linc for a Sunday Night Football game against the Cowboys is always wild, and with a Wentz return on top of it the place might lose power. It is the perfect scenario for Carson to come back, throw 4 TD’s, and once again end any debate that might exist for Carson v. Dak.
